Ride Description: This is a new route that starts and ends in St. Petersburg. It travels through St Pete to Fort Desoto, then over to Pass-a-grill, up the barrier islands to Clearwater, then up the Pinellas Trail to Tarpon Springs, then down the Pinellas Trail to a finish in St Pete. There are brief periods of urban riding and you can expect some tourist traffic around Clearwater beach and around the Sponge Docks in Tarpon. The second half of the ride is almost entirely on the Pinellas Trail. Expect that it will be hot. Very hot. And humid. Please plan and prepare to be out in this kind of weather all day long.
Medals! Everyone completing the route will be awarded — gratis! — a RUSA anniversary medal. It’s a nice chunk of hardware, and completing the anniversary ride is the only way to get one! (This is also an ACP-sanctioned ride, so you’re eligible for an ACP medal, too.)
