2013 Updated Brevet Schedule

Here’s an update on where we’ve been, and where we’re headed.  Details on the 100K coming within the week.  Anticipate another 100K in the Fall on the East Coast, along with a RUSA 200K in San Antonio.  See you on the road!

Some 1200K Events to Ponder for 2013

While you’re waiting for me to put up the registration info and exact details on the 2013 series (coming very soon, I promise!), check out some of the 1200K offerings on tap for next year.  If a Grand Randonnée is in your future, this is the time to start planning it.
There are SEVEN domestic 1200s to choose from this year:

Ontario Randonneurs is putting on the Granite Anvil, starting August 22.

The world-wide offerings aren’t fully known (at least to me!) yet, but here’s what I do know of:

  • Wangaratta Wahine 1200 (Austrailia) in March
  • London-Edinburgh-London (UK) in July.  This one is a quadrennial 1400K, and it’s on my list.
  • Madrid-Gijón-Madrid (Spain) in August
  • South Gippsland 1200 (Australia) on September 7th
  • I hear rumors of the Silk Road 1200 being offered again.

Planning (and training!) starts now!

2013 Brevet Preview

Don’t fret. We’re not done with 2012 yet.

But we are already planning next year’s rides.  Here’s a preview:

(1) We’re going to offer a full brevet series: ACP rides of 200, 300, 400, and 600km — one a month, from January through April;

(2) We’ll have a flèche. The calendar for our other rides isn’t set yet, but the flèche will definitely be Easter weekend (March 28-31, 2013), as is tradition;

(3) You’ll see a few new routes, along with some old favorites; and

(4) Anticipate a return of the Florida 1000K. The same awesomeness of the 2010 edition, but with some new roads, controls, and adventures; and

(5) If you just can’t wait to mark your calendars, schedule your days off, and tell Aunt Ethel she’ll just have to get married for the 7th time some other weekend ’cause you got brevets to ride, hold yer horses for a short while longer — the 2013 calendar will be set real soon!
